Trio Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Honour

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The three contenders were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The show will be aired from 7 PM GMT.

Only 90 days after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the top young European talent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"To be named a finalist for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Littler's Profile

Littler's 2025 began in sensational style as - at just 17 years old - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a dominant victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Being nominated for the honour once more is a big honour," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
