Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
The forward, with six months remaining on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. This signing will be seen as a marquee coup for the WSL side.
Departure from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be holding back emotions while applauding the club's supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top strikers. According to reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a major boost to United’s forward line. She has been highly reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United seem to be building momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Off the pitch, the mid-season window has seen additional business:
