Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but can the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, fans and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I will not force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

West Ham's sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

A family member advised me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's home form, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
