Red Bull Announces Major 2026 Driver Line-Up: Hadjar Promoted, Youngster Arvid Lindblad Secures Grand Prix Debut.

The Austrian squad has confirmed a major reshuffle for the 2026 Formula 1 season, promoting Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its senior team and giving 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his first Formula 1 seat.

The young driver, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, is set to become the partner of Kiwi driver Liam Lawson at the junior outfit VCARB.

This reshuffling means Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda exiting the grid post a half-decade in F1.

The New British Hope

The youngster was identified as a prodigy by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Discussing the company's junior academy, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "looks really promising", commending his "natural quickness".

Red Bull has had a plan for some time to prepare Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, including appearances in F1 practice sessions at Silverstone and Mexico City.

Lindblad stated it was a "proud moment", commenting: "2026 will be a massive test, and I know there's plenty to absorb, but I'm ready to collaborate with the team and step up. I can't wait to get started."

He has won two races in F2 this year and is P6 in the standings ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

The Frenchman's debut season started on a low note when he crashed on the formation lap of the first Australian Grand Prix. However, since then, he has been one of the most impressive rookies this season.

He featured an outstanding podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he lies in tenth place in the championship.

The team principal commented: "Hadjar has displayed impressive growth and proved to be a fast adapter. Crucially, he has the innate pace that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can thrive next to Max."

The promoted driver called it "an incredible opportunity" and said he felt "up for the challenge".

Lawson Retains His Seat

To partner Lindblad at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

Lawson started 2025 with the senior squad but was demoted early in the year. However, he has settled back in at Racing Bulls with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he deserves more time.

The Japanese driver, meanwhile, loses his place after a difficult season. His best result is a P6, and he has accumulated a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship.

The driver market moves confirm that there is also no spot on the Red Bull academy for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
