'People are afraid' - the reasons 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal stand as many people's preferred choice to win the Premier League during this term.

Look at their results against Newcastle and Crystal Palace in contrast with those equivalent matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have beaten all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Impenetrable Rearguard

Arsenal's backline resilience is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title target.

They stand first for clean sheets (6), goals conceded (3), shots faced (72), shots on target faced (19) and xGA (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the best in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their threat from set-pieces is highly documented, but rival sides still struggle to stop the Gunners from these situations.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just wary of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Potential

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City at home - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around £250m on eight summer additions in pursuit of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and having the tightest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now functioning with confidence and purpose.
