Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
