Devoted followers of the pop star are demanding that a individual who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was set to attend court on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of attendees had congregated in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful movie of last year in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, winning several for best costume and artistic direction.
